Logistics

There is no registration to attend the festival. All are invited and welcome.

Schedule

The teachings, talks, prayers, sadhana, chants and offerings to the Buddha at the Mahabodhi Temple are open to all and will take place from 8:30 am to 11:30 am and from 3:00 pm to 4:30 pm each day.

Note – There will be a detailed schedule announced closer to time, for both the “Aspiration Prayer” and “Siddhartha Festival”

Getting here by Air

Gaya is the nearest airport which is approximately 17 kilometres from the town of Bodhgaya. Though the frequency of flights is lesser, the airport is well-connected to New Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata by flights.

Other nearest Airports:

  • The second nearest airport is in Patna which is approximately 135 kilometres (3 hrs) away from the town.
  • The other nearest airport is in Varanasi which is approximately 265 kms (5 hrs) away from the holy town.

* The choice and availability of flights from Patna is far greater than Gaya as well as more economical. 

Getting here by Rail

The nearest rail head is Gaya Junction, which is approximately 13 kilometres away from Bodhgaya. It is well-connected to major Indian cities. From Gaya railway station, you can reach the holy town by hiring any local taxi from there.

Attire

Elegant and traditional attire is suggested. Please refrain from shorts, short skirts, or jeans. Seating at the Mahabodhi Temple will be on cushions and mattresses on the ground, please dress accordingly.
